Here are some frequently asked questions that we have heard in the past. Feel free to review them and if you have further questions, let us know.

No, you can try out in any of the districts but you can only be selected by the district in which you legally reside. It is best that you tryout in your home district. If you tryout in another district you need to notify your home district representative and the representative from the district in which you are trying out. Your tryout evaluation will be compared with players in your home district.

The tryout and the national camp are not about being scouted for College. This is not the purpose of the national camp or the tryout. True, both camps are scouted and LK placid and Rochester are major scouting venues for NCAA coaches, but the purpose of the camp is for USAH to identify and contribute to the development of its top female athletes. If you have aspirations of participating in the national program this is your only direct venue to be seen and interact directly with the national coaching staff.

No, but spectators and supporters are welcome to watch the on ice sessions and attend the Opportunities in Hockey Seminar. Parents may also schedule their flights with the camp group on a space available basis. However, if parents or guardians choose to attend please note that all participants must stay and travel with their assigned teams. If a player drives themselves to the tryout they will be required to check their keys with the camp director

Yes, every year the evaluation staff changes, the players who participate drastically vary and the age divisions shift. Some players grow and developed while others stay the same. Every year players are selected that were not selected in the previous years. It is always heartbreaking to see a player not try out and know that she was close in ranking to one of the players who were selected. The goal is to select our top players. If you do not try out we can not select you.

Allocations for this year have not yet been distributed from the national office. Each district receives an allocation from the national office which is based on the number of players in the district and the performance of the players the district has sent in past years. We anticipate that our allocations will be consistent with past allocations. These allocations serve as a base line.

No, the best effort is made to mix players up from different areas and players are roomed with their tryout team. Players will be roomed 3-4 to a room and ideally each roommate will be from a different state.

The district has made a commitment to having the tryout cost and process be as equitable as possible through out the district. Each year the district board allocates grant funding to off set some of the costs for every player. The less expensive areas to travel from pay slightly more then the base price per player which off set the most expensive areas.
